Devane Shines At The Plate As Hayesville Downs Murphy 13-2

Murphy, NC – The SMC-leading Hayesville Yellow Jackets traveled to Konaheta Park on Tuesday to take on the Murphy Bulldogs. Hayesville entered the game on a ten-game winning streak, and Murphy was looking to bounce back after back-to-back losses to Hiwassee Dam.

Thanks to stellar pitching from Jackson Sellers and some great team hitting, the Jackets were able to extend their win streak to 11 games with a 13-2 victory over the Dogs.

Sellers was nearly perfect on the mound, as the righty surrendered four hits on and two runs over five and two-thirds innings while striking out eight and walking five. Brady Reynolds came on in relief of Sellers, tossing one and one-third innings of no-hit baseball.

Caleb Kephart started on the bump for the Dogs, allowing six hits and seven runs over four innings.

The Hayesville bats were hot in this one, collecting thirteen hits in the game. Dawson Devane and Peyton McGaha led the Jackets in hits, both going 3-4 at the plate. Devane drove in 3 runs on the evening and notched a double and two singles in his 4 at-bats.

Jackson Sellers, Chance Hughes, and Cade Caruso also had a multi-hit game vs the Bulldogs. Sellers now leads the Smoky Mountain Conference in batting average, posting a line of .559.
