James “Jim” Edward Vance, age 79 of Murphy, NC passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020.
He was born in Allegheny County, PA to the late Robert and Edna Humes Vance. James was a civil engineer. In his younger years, James enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an instructor at Chatuge Gun Club for 15 yeras and was a marksman. James was a humble, kind and loving man. He enjoyed spending time with his family. James was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. br>
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Vance.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandra Vance; three sons, Edward “Eddie” Vance and wife Randi of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Vance and wife Kristen of Cummings, GA and Tommy Hogsed and wife Angela of Hayesville, NC; one daughter, Jeanette Bulick and husband David of Summerville, SC; one brother, Jack Vance and wife Joanne of Pensacola, FL; one sister, Katheryneann and husband Gene of Philadelphia, PA; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 12 pm, Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Edward Carter and Rev. Calvin Murphy will officiate.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
