Lisa Johnson, age 55 of Murphy, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 in a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but was raised in Murphy where she had lived most of her life.  She had graduated from Murphy High School and went on to work as a Cosmetologist for over thirty years.  Lisa was a devoted and loving mother, a caring friend, and was very proud to be a grandmother to her two infant grandsons and her only granddog, Daisy.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed being together with family.

She was the daughter of Jerry Johnson of Murphy and the late Patricia Marie Johnson.

Surviving are two daughters, Cierra Johnson and Carina Dockery, both of Murphy; two sons, Kyle and Kamen Dockery, both of Murphy; three brothers, Richard Bowling of Hamilton, Ohio, Timothy and Steve Johnson of Murphy; and two grandsons, Carter Rowland and Larkin Johnson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Warren Golden officiating.  The interment will be in Ogreeta Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Steve and Tim Johnson, Carl Dockery, Cullen and Mitch Garmon, Mike Carter, and Austin Rowland.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 14^th at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

Jackie Sue Breedlove Craven, 66 of Huntsburg passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Hospice House. Born November 15, 1952 in Macon County, North Carolina to Faye and Jackson Breedlove, she was raised in Bedford Hts., OH and a graduate of Bedford High School. Her main goal for life was to be a mother. Jackie married Robert Craven on April 24, 1971 at Bedford Assembly of God. They relocated to Clovis, New Mexico until 1973, moving back to Bedford Hts., and started their family. In 1976, they moved to more open spaces, Huntsburg Township in Geauga County. With love and devotion, her dreams were fulfilled. She cherished family, God and his creatures, with her favorite raccoon collection in every room. Before and after raising her family, she was employed as a secretary, clerk and photo developer for several companies. She excelled in cooking, baking, sewing, arts and crafts, writing children books, and reading the Bible.

Preceding Jackie in death were her parents and her grandparents.

Jackie is survived by her beloved husband Robert of 47 years, her two daughters, Cheri (Vernon) Thacker and Jennifer (Christopher) Bezzeg, her son Brian (Laura) Craven, her brother George (Doris) Presley, and her 6 loving grandchildren, Leo Thacker, Nicholas Thacker, Christopher Bezzeg, Jackson Bezzeg, Brenton Craven, and Bryanna Craven.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM with a Funeral Service to follow on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062. On Monday, December 31, 2018, the family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM at Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews. Burial will follow at 11:30 AM in Aquone Community Cemetery, NC.

Juanita Roach, age 91, of Hayesville, died Friday, November 23, 2018 in a Towns County, Georgia hospital.  She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County.  Juanita had worked for Clifton Precision and was a member of Fires Creek Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mamie Barker Roach.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Coffey and Ruth McCray; and a great grandson, Matthew Laney.

Surviving are two sons, Russell Roach of Monticello, Georgia and David Roach of Murphy; a sister, Dorothy Roach of Hayesville; two brothers, Charlie Roach of Hayesville and Franklin Roach of Lawrenceville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Tammy Marcus, Angela Roach, and Amanda Bugg; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Fires Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Dallas Crowder and Rev. Matthew Roach officiating.  The interment will be in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Zac and Seth Laney, Corey and Keith Marcus, Benny Kirby, and Tony Lands.  Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Jeff Roach.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Fires Creek Baptist Church.

Mary Ruth West Shields

Mary Ruth West Shields, 79, of Andrews went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 1, 2019 after an extended illness. She was born and raised in Andrews. Mary left and lived in Hickory, North Carolina for a while before moving back to the mountains. Mary was a member of Junaluska Baptist Church and loved to attend when she was able. She loved working Find-A-Word puzzles, reading her Bible, and listening to gospel music.

Mary was the daughter of the late Edmond and Palace Gregory West and the wife of the late Dillard Shields, who died April 5, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Michael Shields; three sisters, Lois Farmer, Hazel Pilkey, and Betty West Shields; and a brother, Gerald West.

Surviving are a son, Jimmy Shields and wife, Jena of Andrews; two sisters, Sallie Mayes and husband, Wayne of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, and Doris Winebarger of Hickory; two brothers, Earl West and wife, Barbara and Kenneth West and wife, Lawana, all of Andrews; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Revs. Tully Griggs and Patrick O’Dell officiating. The interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Carringer, Jamie and Jericho West, and Brian McCoy.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 p.m. Monday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.

Christopher Dunn, 60, of Hayesville passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his residence.

Frances Runyon Warner, 96, of Hayesville passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her residence. She was a native of Williamson, West Virginia, but lived in Lake Worth, Florida before moving to Clay County in 1982. As the wife of Lt. Col. James B. Warner, she lived throughout the country as well as Germany and France for several years.

Fran was a needle point artist, enjoyed painting canvas, gardening, and raising orchids.

She was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church, where she was a dedicated choir member for decades.

She was the daughter of the late Dewey Lawson and Artie Pinson Runyon and the wife of the late Lt. Col. James B. Warner, who died February 15, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Runyon Osborne.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna E. Keil and husband, Dennis of Louisville, Nebraska; a son, James B. “Rusty” Warner Jr. and wife, Margaret of Lincoln, Nebraska; two brothers, Donald L. Runyon and wife, Shirley of Easley, South Carolina and James D. Runyon and wife, Barbara of Clintwood, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating. A private interment was in the church cemetery.

The family received friends from 10-10:50 Tuesday morning at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church prior to the services.
