IMI - Houses of Worship Security

BRASSTOWN, NC – IMI Florida Academy –  the US subsidiary of Israel’s IMI Academy for Advanced Security, and Anti-Terror Training – is offering a half-day seminar, “Israeli Tactical Training for Houses of Worship: Prevention is Everything.” It will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, from 1 pm until 6 pm, at the Brasstown, NC Community Civic Center.

The seminar will be led by Haim Geri, an Israeli and US Citizen with decades of experience in security, having served as an officer in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), an Air Marshall for El Al Airlines, and the Israel General Security Service, providing security for Israeli embassies and assets worldwide, Dr. George Gaines, Director of Open Enrollment at IMI explained. The seminar will analyze videos of recent church attacks and identify what security did, right and wrong.

Seminar topics, among others, include suspicious indicators, questioning techniques, welcoming and evaluating guests, rings of protection, denying entrance to a threat, planning for security and recovery, selecting security team members, identifying necessary training for security teams, and cooperating with local law enforcement.

“As God-loving Americans, the security and sanctity of our houses of worship are paramount to us,” Gaines said. “Yet today we see these sacred places being defiled by acts of terror and criminal behavior. We need to secure our sacred places in a way that prevents dangerous persons from doing harm to our congregations and properties, yet remain open sanctuaries for those who seek God. Israel’s reputation for security is legendary. Israelis are dedicated to free religious practice and committed to preventing hostile actions toward its houses of worship.”
