Salvatore Joseph “Sal” DeVito

Salvatore Joseph “Sal” DeVito, 72, of Murphy passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at his residence. He was a native of Brooklyn, New York, but lived in Lake Worth, Florida before moving to Murphy in 1992. Sal had been a plumber for more than 50 years. Sal played softball for a local league for more than 20 years.

He was the son of the late Salvatore Joseph DeVito Sr. and Rose M. Tristaino DeVito. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rocco Varvaro.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Faulkner DeVito; two sons, Salvatore Joseph DeVito III of East Tawas, Michigan and Anthony Augustus DeVito of Winter Haven, Florida; a brother, Michael Varvaro of Brooksville, Florida; and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Vista Realty, 75 Pine Lane, Murphy, North Carolina with Rev. Joy Stein officiating.
