Giles Adams: Obituary

Giles Adams, 81, of Andrews passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital. He was a native and lifetime resident of Andrews. Giles had worked many years at Columbia Marble Company. He was a firm believer in hard work and practiced it throughout his life. He kept up the farm and enjoyed working in his garden. He was a faithful member of Valley River Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee and had served on the Cemetery Committee. Giles enjoyed spending time with his family and was devoted to visiting the sick and shut-ins.

He was the son of the late Charles Trent and Elsie Blaylock Adams. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Wilson; and three brothers, N.L. Adams, Roger Adams, and an infant brother, Clayton Adams.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Wanda Phillips Adams; a daughter, Kathy Adams Painter and husband, David of Sylva, North Carolina; a son, Greg Adams and wife, Leslie of Cleveland, Georgia; two granddaughters, Madison Adams, and Heather Painter; two sisters, Helen Rogers and husband, Jimmy of Young Harris, Georgia and Marie Collins of Lawrenceville, Georgia; two brothers, Gerald Adams of Andrews, North Carolina, and Joe Adams of Murphy, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 23, 2018 in Valley River Baptist Church with Revs. Roy Phillips, Ricky Rogers, and Jimmy Rogers officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg, Mickey, Scott and Kevin Adams, David Rogers, and Mike Thaxton. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Valley River Baptist Church and Sheridan Scroggs.

The family received friends from 12:00-1:45 Friday afternoon at Valley River Baptist Church prior to the services.
