Donald Kelly, 87, of Hayesville passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at his residence. He was a native of Natick, Massachusetts. Donald lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania most of his adult life. He also lived in Bonita Springs, Florida before moving to Hiawassee, Georgia in 2009. Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was very active with the VFW Post 7807 in Hiawassee, where he was a lifetime member. He was also a member of the American Legion and supported the local Warrior Clan. Donald was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.
He was the son of the late William Thomas and Margaret McGlone Kelly. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John V. Kelly and William Thomas Kelly.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Scott Kelly and wife, Gina of Bristol, Pennsylvania, and Craig Kelly of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; his life partner, Billie Shelburn of Hayesville; and four grandchildren, Christine, Bryant, Taylor, and Shawn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the VFW Post 7807, 1329 Sunnyside Road, Hiawassee, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the VFW Post 7807, 1329 Sunnyside Road, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
