Sam Holloway: Obituary

Sam Holloway, age 76, of Topton, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 in a Murphy hospital. He was a native and lifetime resident of Topton. Sam was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the United States Army.  Sam had worked in tunneling in Atlanta, Georgia and had also worked for Wells and West locally.  He had volunteered with the Disabled American Veterans as a Van Coordinator. He was a member of the Andrews VFW post #7620 where he helped with post events.  He was a member of Briartown Baptist Church, but had been attending Junaluska Baptist Church. Sam enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandkids.

He was the son of the late Jack and Connie Mae Evans Holloway and husband of the late Sharon Holloway, who died November 4, 2002. He was also preceded in death by a son Bobby Holloway and two brothers, Dan and James Holloway.

Surviving are a daughter, Kammy Neal and husband, Bobby of Andrews; two sons, Sammy Holloway and wife, Tammy of Mineral Bluff, Georgia and Marty Holloway of Nantahala; two sisters, Betty Ledford and husband, Hardy and Linda Holloway all of Topton; two brothers, Jack Holloway of Robbinsville and Ricky Holloway of Andrews; four grandchildren, Kyle Holloway, Ali Silvers, Ethan & Evan Neal. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. Dana Dockery officiating. The interment was in Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Hayesville American Legion Post 532, Hayesville VFW Post 6812, and Murphy American Legion Post 96. Pallbearers were Darrell and James Holloway, Kent Haney, Shane Gregory, and Kevin and John Robert Allen.  Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Ellis, Ronnie Mason, Jim Paul, Bob Neal, and Jack Martin.

The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 5^th at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
