(Revisit The Rivalry Series) – The first of our Revisit The Rivalry series matchups to cross state lines, the Hayesville Yellow Jackets and the Towns County Indians have been going at it since 1983. While the Jackets have a commanding lead in the all-time series, things have tightened up over the previous 10 matchups. The Towns County Indians got their first-ever win over Hayesville in 2009 and then went on a run of three straight wins from 2016-2018.

Even with the Indian’s recent success, the Jackets have owned this rivalry from the start. They are 22-4 all-time in the series, including 16 straight wins from 1983-2008.

Last year’s game between these two rivals was an instant classic, as the Yellow Jackets pulled out a 13-12 win over the Indians and defended their home field, thanks to a 4th quarter touchdown run by Taylor McClure.

2023 should be another exciting chapter in the book of Jackets vs Indians as both teams look pretty evenly matched heading into the season. Towns County will host Hayesville to kickoff the start of the 2023 season on August 18th.
